Fashion Tale release party at Lydmar Hotel

Fashiontale MagazineThe second edition of Fashion Tale Magazine was celebrated at Lydmar Hotel in Stockholm.
This time the reader is surprised with a no-model-at-all-issue. Illustrations solamente.
When you get an issue of Fashion Tale Magazine in your hand it´s easy to wonder what the heck is the catch? Fashion Tale doesn´t have a bit of the sleasy style of teen fashion mags nor the pretentious style of high fashion journalism – this is a fashion magazine with a modern approach to reach their readers. And above all it´s a fashion magazine that surprises you – how often does that happen?

The second issue arrived just yesterday and the first thing that strikes you is that the magazine is missing its spine (!), next question is were are all the models? I got a word with the publisher of the FTM Carl Axel Wahlström, “Sure we used models, its only that they´ve been portrayed with drawings, or illustrations instead of the classicla fashion photo. Even the yacht, wich is buy the way designed by Philip Starck, is real and is owned by a russian oil billionaire.”
Among the illustrators is the swedish Lovisa Burfitt. Lovisa and i missed a flight shuttle home from Paris when I lived there a few years ago. We had to spend our last money on a cab to the airport. At that time she worked with Louis Vitton, now she has her own brand under the name Burfitt. Liselotte Watkins who works for Prada, Miu Miu and H&M has also gotten a full chapter to illustrate.

Fashion Tale Magazine, in their own words:
Fashion Tale Magazine is purely pictorial; what others describe with words we say in pictures. When others talk about trend, we prefer style and timeless beauty. For us, fashion becomes interesting when put into context. We dare to be inspired by politics, high- and lowbrow culture, as well as historic and current events – always with a nerve and artistic expression. We believe in leaving as much creative freedom as possible to the photographers and stylists.
Our contributors consists of internationally acclaimed professionals, as well as up and coming talents. Together we portray the world in fashion as we see it. We strive to search the globe for the perfect collaborators for each story.
Illustrators: Lovisa Burfitt, Fredrik Tjernström, Graham Samuels, Lina Ekstrand, Veronica Ballart Lilja, Liselotte Watkins, Hanna Wieslander

BritneyAre our clicks shaping what the on-line newspapers are giving us to read?
The Swedish journalist Fredrik Wass decided to do a little research on this. The article bisonblog: Finanskris eller Britney Spears – Så viktiga är dina klick. is in swedish, but I recommend you to use Google Translate and read it. There will be more quotations from Swedish blogs so get used to using GT and save the terrific recommended translate-bookmark.

Is the news value based on what people are clicking on? And can news about Britney Spears beat out more serious news just by how we click? I wanted to know the answer and on behalf of the newspaper Studentliv, I found out how two of Sweden’s largest media sites discuss clicks statistics.

Without clicks the network economy will stop. To be able to sell ads a site must be able to produce high numbers of visits. Each time you click on a headline or link you are telling the producer of the site what you think. Do you rather read about Britney Spears than the last of the financial crisis? Then you´re at the same time giving the paper a signal to continue to invest in Britney Gossip.

Scrach and sniff in the marketing business

1.
People magazine lists hunks and show off their scents through a scratch-n-sniff section in the magazine. Artikel på Folio: People’s Sexiest Man Alive Issue to Include ‘Scratch-n-Sniff’ Sectionbild-1
2.
Sensory Marketing might not be every ones cup of tea (i.e. Naomi Klein) but thats ok, People have made a really nice synchronization between their own editorial story and the marketing of selected parfumes. Positioning commercial messegas in editorial text have never smelled so good.

Fashion Tale Magazine: Artists in Fashion Tale Magazine #2

The fresh hot fahion magazine Fashion Tale proved in their first issue that it´s still possible to be inovative in fashion journalism. And now their are doing it again. The next issue that will be released in december will not have any of the classical fashion photos. Instead they have asked illustrators from the big fahion houses to draw pictures of the clothes to be presented.
Here are a few samples presented on their blog: Fashion Tale Magazine: Artists in Fashion Tale Magazine #2

RSS Media Culpa – two Swedish eyes on media and public relations

  • Vodafone gained Twitter followers after bad tweet
Companies that manage an issue or crisis well may often come out stronger on the other side. As a follow up to my post yesterday about Vodafone and the obscene tweet, I thought I would check in on the number of followers to Vodafone's Twitter account. In my view, the company handled the indicident well and I almost expected that they would gain a number […]
  • One tweet causes crisis for Vodafone
When social media enters the business world, a larger number of employees get to speak on behalf of the company than what was standard practice before. Often this is a good thing, but of course there can always be one or two bad apples that will take advantage of this new found power and try to harm the organization. That was probably what happened to Vodafo […]
  • Canada and Sweden most giving people in Haiti earth quake
This is a neat way of illustrating data. It's an illustration that David McCandless did for UK paper the Guardian and it visualizes how much individual countries have contributed to the Haiti relief. Canadians were the most giving people, based on how much they donated per person on average. Sweden is second, followed by the other Nordic countries Norwa […]

  • 200,000 Swedes joined fake Facebook group for Haiti
It wouldn't hurt to practise some critical thinking when participating in social networks. What many suspected turned out to be true today, namely that a Facebook group titled (translated from Swedish) "2 kronor for every member to the earth quake victims in Haiti" was only fake. Everything from the identity of the person who created the group […]
